Look whose all grown up

Samuel celebrated his 5th birthday yesterday. It seems so strange that he is no longer that little baby who refused to keep his hands inside his crib blankets and lifted his head aged 3 days!

From the start he was ahead of himself and that doesnt seem to have stopped. He keeps me constantly busy. Not physically but mentally. Questions and conversations, statements and dreams.

These 5 years have been one huge adventure, ups and downs and just normal. Being a mum is never what you imagine when you start on this journey but its the best thing I have ever done and I wouldnt change my 5 years of wonderment for ANYTHING!

Happy Birthday Samuel.........love mama xxxx

Pink days

When there isnt a crock of gold at the end of the rainbow.....but just another journey ahead, there come friends bearing flowers. Those flowers are all pink and princess like and make a girl feel very loved. Three friends I rarely see, but who never fail to be there. So I thank you......for a pretty pink blush that fell on a thursday in november ...... Flowers

te Raa update

Whats happening in our life...ummmmm

one

So I am officially an Urban gurl.......

I get to play with gorgeous Urban lily papers and chipboards and make friends with a group of very talented girls. Urban Swank is the distributor for Urban lily and its going to be a fun rideI am waiting for my box of goodies to arrive and have lots of plans to scrap my way through the rainy cold nights.

two

I am crocheting and have raised lots for cancer kids charity. Corinne used my latest creation this week in a baby shoot and even I have to say I made a good prop! She will post pics soon so then I can post one here. The prop is not a hat for a change!!

Three

I have a mandarin thing....I am eating them by the bucket load. I always do this and then after 3 weeks I cant bear to see one again....Harry is used to it but I think it still amuses him lol

My baby turns 5 in 6 days. Its unreal. Its scary and its not nice :( but he is growing into an amazing little man. He is so smart its unreal. Everyday is a journey with him and I learn something new each time he peeps his head around the door!

Five

We have a health thing going on. 10 days ago I was diagnosed with a dermoid growth on my ovary.....I have and am in so much pain its not even explainable.

So I have had lots of tests and thursday I will go through the scan and get all my results. Its not something you EVER think will happen to you but the chance is shining in our faces and its a yucky feeling.

Things like this really make you see life in a different light. I see my family differently, my spare time, my days, my work actually my world. Harry is quiet and inward and although we have not spoken about it in front of samuel...even he knows somehow.

If I could do anything I would spend my days, until thursday sitting and crocheting with Samuel watching night at the museum and harry watching football.......its my place of peace in this world.

So this is the te Raa world at the moment. All mixed up with birthdays and mandarins and a little scary but we will get through it. We are together and thats all that matters.....time is what it is and all the crying in the world wont change that.

"Our goal for the class was to truly make it a DIY holiday. We've repurposed sweaters into armwarmers and baby leggings, ornaments into centerpieces and made sure that ease and affordability went hand in hand with high quality homemade gifts. We've even included some easy craft you can do with your kids!"

easter?

Today is DANK DAG. Its a day where we thank God for all that we have. I am so thankful, this week especially for the special people in my life. I asked Samuel what he was thankful for and he had a huge list. Then he asked me what I was thankful for and I said for him and harry. He said but arent you thankful for all the scrap paper you have.....oooh then it hit me...As I gaze around my scrap room there is so much stuff I just save.....you know papers you dare not cut, rubons not rubbed on and alphabets bought in triplicate cos you dare not use them.

Then comes the day you look at them and think eeuuuw....I so do not like that alphabet!

So I have made a decision to use it all and to make the most of having it and I am even letting samuel use it. I mean if you cant share a bit of lovely sassafras then its no fun!

I have had this HUGE paper mache egg for such a long time and so I thought it was time that I made something with it!

So here is my egg. Its 50cm tall and full of Prima yumminess. I hope you like it..... and remember to say thank you today :)

butterflies and tulle

Seven years ago today I was dressed in a HUGE and stunning wedding dress. 40 meters of silk in a pale oyster colour, a vintage veil and a tiara.Hand made shoes and brilliant sunshine.

I was met by a royal marine dressed in full uniform complete with his white hat and gloves.

Driven in a car from 1931 to a small church where generations of the te Raa's have been christened, married and buried. There to be met by my sister who accompanied me down the aisle.

It was a picture perfect day and I was surrounded by all those who loved me.

Today is my wedding anniversary and as is tradition I recieved 25 long stemmed roses. 18 dark blood red and this year 7 huge ivory english roses, the same as those in my wedding bouquet.

We have not had an easy 7 years but the one thing that has remained constant is we have always loved each other and always stayed the best of friends.

So here we go onto the next year.....happy anniversary harry I love you !!!

I read this on Ranjinis scrapologie blog, I love her blog she always has pretty vintage images and her scrapping as stunning. Hers was the first kit that I ever bought. They were always so amazing I wish she still did them.

Its an article written by Regina Brett of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Its serious and fun and random and I know you will read it and pull something out for you....hope it makes you smile!....enjoy the autumn weather!

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.

17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.

18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Overprepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

36. Growing old beats the alternative - dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.

38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

42. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

45. The best is yet to come.

46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

48. If you don't ask, you don't get.

49. Yield.

50. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.
